The Minister of Transport, Minister Fikile Mbalula, after consultation with the Cabinet members responsible for cooperative governance and traditional affairs, health, police and justice and correctional services, in terms of Regulations made under section 27(2) of the Disaster Management Act published new Transport Regulations pertaining to air travel and aviation activities.

The new Regulations confirm the amendment of Direction 5B which now permits aerial fire spotting, control and fighting. This is welcomed by the Sector as we are moving into our 2020 fire season.
