Environmental stewardship in a forestry context

Come and explore the patchwork nature of the forestry landscape and the environmental benefits that can be leveraged from sustainably managing the unplanted areas found within forestry landholdings.

In celebration of International Day of Biological Diversity, here are some of biodiversity based the projects, programmes and initiatives our Forestry South Africa members are involved with on their landholdings. To find out more, simply click on a pin to reveal how the Forestry Sector is helping conserve endangered species like the Blue Swallow and Hewitt’s Ghost Frog, or have established protected nature reserves for the conservation of specific habitats and ecosystems or the protection of water catchments.

Over the next year, Forestry South Africa plans to populate this interactive map with a collection of projects, programmes and initiatives that all have environmental stewardship at their heart.
