My research focuses on facilitating responsible pesticide use through understanding the environmental behaviours of pesticides. I look at whether a pesticide will enter waterways and how long it exists in the soil after application. To achieve this, I collect numerous samples in the field, which are sent off to a laboratory for analysis. The results will give us a starting point to understanding the risk involved with pesticide use. When we understand the risks, we can put together the mitigation steps needed to eliminate them.
