#WomenInForestry – meet Donna-Mari Noble

Mpact Recycling

Communications Manager

Qualifications

  • B.A. (Hons) Marketing Communications

Forestry career: 7 years

I put together both the internal and external communication strategies for the Recycling group which includes both the Mpact Recycling and Remade Recycling brands; as well as looking after the post-consumer programmes centered around schools, communities, collectors, buy-back centres and our branches countrywide. I sit on the Recycling side of the business and I’m actively involved with the communications around recycling working with various stakeholders including business, government, brand owners and industry associations

WHY I LOVE WORKING IN THE FORESTRY SECTOR
It is about making a difference, the work that I do I know in the long run will help people make better decisions when it comes to recycling. As part of the recycling management team, I know we effect a real change in the communities we operate in and I get to be a part of that process.

MY ADVICE TO THOSE EXPLORING A CAREER IN FORESTRY
With any career choice, it’s important to think beyond yourself. Think of your skills and who you are as a person; and what you can bring to your company. From being a voice in your field to being able to articulate yourself is so very important. For so many women, finding their voice is the hardest thing they will ever have to do. Although the number of women in the recycling industry has increased over the last number of years, there is still a gap when it comes to managerial and executive roles for women in the industry. Women bring with them a different way of thinking, we are conscientious, focus on our goals and bringing our teams together. If you want to effect change and be involved in an interesting industry from recycling all the way through the value chain – then this career is for you.
