Forestry career: 8 years
In the eight years employed at NCT, I have developed into different roles, I could never be held down by one job title – I assisted as much as I was capable of in the Admin department from Receptionist, Admin Clerk, Timber Receipts Clerk, HR Duties, Creditors Clerk & now Accounts Clerk.
Being the only rose amongst the thorns, I have managed to earn the respect from all staff not as a female but as an equal…. that’s my greatest accomplishment at NCT. My aspirations are to empower all females within the organization to continuously improve and for myself, one day to be the lead Accountant at NCT.
WHY I LOVE WORKING IN THE FORESTRY SECTOR
The adventure that a seedling takes on from the point of being sowed to final paper product fascinates me. Understanding the lifecycle that a single woodchip takes, is astounding in the various products that can be created from it, and the achievement of knowing that I have played a part in that journey.
MY ADVICE TO THOSE EXPLORING A CAREER IN FORESTRY
There is nothing that you cannot do! Believe in yourself!
