Thulas Nxesi, the Minister of Employment and Labour, gazetted South Africa’s new minimum wage which will take effect from 1 March 2020.

The new minimum wage of R18.68 per hour, for each ordinary hour worked, for forestry and farm workers heralds a 3.8% increase. The minimum wage increases have not been backdated to the 1 January 2020 and only come into force from the 1 March 2020.
